How to Create ABC ID:- In line with the National Education Policy-2020, the Government of India has introduced the Academic Bank of Credits (ABC ID card) system. The ABC Profile is a crucial component of this system, aiming to provide students across the nation with academic flexibility, personalized learning paths, and seamless mobility between educational institutions. The ABC Profile system within the Academic Bank of Credits (ABC) in India marks a significant step towards providing students with greater academic flexibility, personalized learning, and recognition of prior achievements. By creating an ABC Profile ID, students gain the ability to shape their educational journeys, transfer credits seamlessly, and access diverse learning opportunities. The ABC Profile empowers students, fosters collaboration between educational institutions, and promotes the holistic development of India’s education system.

What is an ABC ID Card?

The ABC Profile is an integral part of the Academic Bank of Credits (ABC) system introduced by the University Grants Commission (UGC) in India. It serves as a centralized digital repository, akin to a bank account, where students’ academic credits are stored. These credits are accumulated based on their classwork, tutorials, and other educational activities. The ABC Profile offers students a seamless mobility mechanism, allowing them to transfer and redeem their accumulated credits within or between Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). The primary purpose of the ABC Profile is to provide students with academic flexibility and the freedom to shape their learning paths. By storing credits in a centralized repository, students can easily access and utilize their academic achievements to customize their educational journeys. The ABC Profile system aims to:

• Allows multiple entry, multiple exit for students
• Stores student credit for a minimum shelf life of 7 years
• Transfer credit through a single window after approval of source and destination academic institution
• Only verified academic institutions can upload credits
• Improves transparency and helps to build a more flexible approach to curriculum design and development

Purpose of the ABC ID Card:

• Enable Customized Learning: The ABC Profile allows students to choose courses and educational programs that align with their interests, career aspirations, and learning preferences. It promotes a mix of vocational, academic, and multidisciplinary courses, providing students with a tailor-made degree.
• Facilitate Student Mobility: The ABC Profile enables students to transfer their accumulated credits seamlessly between different HEIs. This reduces time commitments, minimizes the risk of dropout, and enhances social mobility for students, particularly those from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
• Recognize Prior Learning: The ABC Profile acknowledges and rewards the learning that students have already completed, even if they haven’t completed an entire program of study. It provides a way for students to track their progress towards qualifications and supports their continuous learning journey.
• Foster Collaborative Processes: The ABC Profile encourages inter-institutional partnerships, promoting knowledge sharing and quality enhancement in education. It allows for credit recognition and accumulation from various sources, including national schemes like SWAYAM, NPTEL, and registered vocational degree programs.

Step to Create ABC – ID Card:

1. Open DigiLocker Official Website
2. Click on “SIGN UP” Option if your are not registered
3. After Registration Login into DigiLocker Portal using your Aadhar Number and MPIN.
4. After Login Click on “Search Documents” and Type ABC ID Card in Search column.
5. After that Click on Institutions Type & Select “University” 
6. After that Click on Institutions Name & Select your “University”
7. After filling all the information Click on “Get Document”
8. After that Click on “Issued Documents” & Download your ABC ID Card.
